Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday was a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine, so that bloggers can feature upcoming releases that they cannot wait to get their hands on.

My Waiting on Wednesday picks are a trio of highly-anticipated sequels.

Let's have a look, shall we?

Underworld
by Meg Cabot

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Meg Cabot, the dark reimagining of the Persephone myth begun in ABANDON continues ... into the Underworld.

Seventeen-year-old Pierce Oliviera isn't dead.

Not this time.

But she is being held against her will in the dim, twilit world between heaven and hell, where the spirits of the deceased wait before embarking upon their final journey.

Her captor, John Hayden, claims it's for her own safety. Because not all the departed are dear. Some are so unhappy with where they ended up after leaving the Underworld, they've come back as Furies, intent on vengeance . . . on the one who sent them there and on the one whom he loves.

But while Pierce might be safe from the Furies in the Underworld, far worse dangers could be lurking for her there . . . and they might have more to do with its ruler than with his enemies.

And unless Pierce is careful, this time there'll be no escape.
Abandon was such a fun read, and I love the tale of Persephone, which this series is based off of, so I can't wait to get my hands on book two!

Sapphire Blue
by Kerstin Gier (translated by Anthea Bell)
Hardcover
Henry Holt & Co.
October 30, 2012
Pre-order the Book

Gwen’s life has been a rollercoaster since she discovered she was the Ruby, the final member of the secret time-traveling Circle of Twelve.
In between searching through history for the other time-travelers and asking for a bit of their blood (gross!), she’s been trying to figure out what all the mysteries and prophecies surrounding the Circle
really mean.
At least Gwen has plenty of help. Her best friend Lesley follows every lead diligently on the Internet. James the ghost teaches Gwen how to fit in at an eighteenth century party. And Xemerius, the gargoyle demon who has been following Gwen since he caught her kissing Gideon in a church, offers advice on everything. Oh, yes. And of course there is Gideon, the Diamond. One minute he’s very warm indeed; the next he’s freezing cold. Gwen’s not sure what’s going on there, but she’s pretty much destined to find out.
I'm so upset that the release date for this one has been pushed back.  I've been waiting on the edge of my seat for Sapphire Blue ever since I finished Ruby Red.  Hurry up October!

Days of Blood and Starlight
by Laini Taylor
Hardcover
Little Brown
September 2012
Pre-order the Book

In this stunning sequel to the highly acclaimed "Daughter of Smoke and Bone," Karou must come to terms with who and what she is, and how far she'll go to avenge her people. Filled with heartbreak and beauty, mysteries and secrets, new characters and old ...

This one doesn't even have a cover yet, and I'm featuring it here.  That should tell you how MUCH I want this title.  Daughter of Smoke and Bone was FABULOUS!  The worldbuilding, the romance, and the CLIFFHANGER ENDING.  *grabbyhands*

Well that's it for me, my lovelies.

What are you waiting on?

  4. I love the cover for Sapphire Blue and I agree October needs to come faster. I absolutely loved Ruby Red and I'm definitely anxious for more. Abandon was so much to read, and it's based off the Hades/Persephone myth so that makes the series even better. I definitely can't wait to read Underworld I have missed John lol.
