Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday was a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine, so that bloggers can feature upcoming releases that they cannot wait to get their hands on.

My Waiting on Wednesday picks are a veritable trio of end-of-the-world enjoyment.  Yeah...that was hard to say in my head before I typed it out.

Nevermind.

Let's have a look, shall we?

Aries, Clementine, Mason and Michael have survived the first wave of the apocalypse that wiped out most of the world's population, and turned many of the rest into murderous Baggers. Now, they're hiding out in an abandoned house in Vancouver with a ragtag group of surviving teens, and trying to figure out their next move.

Aries is trying to lead, but it's hard to be a leader when there are no easy answers, and every move feels wrong. Clementine is desperate to find her brother Heath, but it's impossible to know where he'd be, even if he is still alive. Michael is still haunted by the memories of his actions during his harrowing struggle to survive. And Mason is struggling with something far worse: the fear that he may be a danger to his friends.

As the Baggers begin to create a new world order, Aries, Clementine, Mason and Michael will have to trust and rely on each other in order to survive.
I loved the first book in this series, Dark Inside, more than I ever expected I would.  It was all StephenKing-like in awesomeness.  Evil and the end of the world and the struggle to survive.  I need book two immediately!

Life As We Knew It meets Lord of the Flies in a mall that looks just like yours

A biological bomb has just been discovered in the air ducts of a busy suburban mall. At first nobody knows if it's even life threatening, but then the entire complex is quarantined, people start getting sick, supplies start running low, and there's no way out. Among the hundreds of trapped shoppers are four teens.
These four different narrators, each with their own stories, must cope in unique, surprising styles, changing in ways they wouldn't have predicted, trying to find solace, safety, and escape at a time when the adults are behaving badly.
This is a gripping look at people and how they can—and must—change under the most dire of circumstances.
And not always for the better.
Aaaand this is another one that's going to have me packing my bug-out bag, I can feel it now. (note: props to anyone who knows what a bug-out bag is. Double props if you HAVE one...please ignore the fact that I used the word "props".  Please).  The thought of being trapped in a mall with a ton of other people during a plague is absolutely terrifying to me.  Therefore I must read this book.

This Is Not a Test

It’s the end of the world. Six students have taken cover in Cortege High but shelter is little comfort when the dead outside won’t stop pounding on the doors. One bite is all it takes to kill a person and bring them back as a monstrous version of their former self. To Sloane Price, that doesn’t sound so bad. Six months ago, her world collapsed and since then, she’s failed to find a reason to keep going. Now seems like the perfect time to give up. As Sloane eagerly waits for the barricades to fall, she’s forced to witness the apocalypse through the eyes of five people who actually want to live. But as the days crawl by, the motivations for survival change in startling ways and soon the group’s fate is determined less and less by what’s happening outside and more and more by the unpredictable and violent bids for life—and death—inside. When everything is gone, what do you hold on to?
Zombies.  Let me say that again...  ZOMBIES.
Yes, I'm a fan.
Let's leave it at that before I embarrass myself, okay?
Thanks.

So what's on your waiting list this week?

  1. Rage Within and This is Not a Test are at the top of my list! I hadn't heard of No Safety in Numbers, but it sounds so good! And seriously, there are people who don't know what a bug-out bag is?

  2. Zombie overhaul. I'm still leery of zombies (I blame it on my over active imagination), but I have to admit that I have wanted to read Rage Within and Dark Inside. =)
