Okay...this is probably going to be a pretty short review. This is mainly due to the fact that I don't want my review to contain any spoilers, and partly because this story is so complex--and it's only the first in the trilogy--that even if I let something slip, I'm not sure if I'm going to be 100% correct.
I liked this one because it's as much of a mystery as it is a paranormal story. Mara herself doesn't know what's going on, and what makes it a million times better is that there was no one stepping in to explain everything. She's forced to muddle through the mystery herself (and with the help of a really cute and charming guy) and we as readers are along for the ride.
There's something wrong with Mara Dyer. She knows it. Her family knows it. And the dead friends she left behind certainly aren't making anything easier. After she survives a tragedy that leaves her friends dead and her the sole survivor, Mara's had what can only be called a mental break. She's seeing things that aren't there--people that CAN'T be there, and it's tearing everything apart. So her family has picked up and moved to sunny Florida for a new start.
It's there that she meets the sexy Noah, and makes friends with the quirky dreadlocked Jamie at school. It's there that Mara starts to get the help she needs.
But then strange things start happening, and she realizes that the past she thought she put behind her has come to catch up with her once and for all.
Such an engrossing read. I absolutely cannot wait for book two!

I loved The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and how it kept you so in the dark about everything! It left me guessing what would happen next until the very end!
